--"something new"--
just some thoughts about the new album from me if you enjoy reading about it. if not, sorry; just continue watching memes on fb.
so i guess i reached the point as an artist where (some) people start craving for my older work again. it is an inevitable point if you as an artist want to develop your sound and search for something new. it's funny because it is what silver bullet is about.
hell, i even announced it in the song "the beginning of something new"
"if faith decides where my future lies, who am i not to try to find my own way"
i saw this point coming from far and made my decision to take a step back from touring and reflecting on it while producing silver bullet.
silver bullet stands for the feeling of always ending up second place. a feeling that a lot of people can relate to, especially in these modern times. when you look around you, offline and online, only people that (seemingly) do it better than you stick out.
silver is the color of being second place, but the saying of silver bullet means finding a simple solution to a complicated problem.
this album meant to me finding the silver bullet. to stop giving a fuck about what people expect me to do, to stop giving a fuck about what social media tells me or even unconsciously makes me do. and in fact it really is that simple.
i learned how to use my phone just as a tool to communicate when i want to rather than an unstoppable addiction of trying to keep up. it feels fuckin stupid even saying that but really, we all know what i mean.
anyway, back to the music. i also stopped giving a fuck trying to always create my ultimate hardstyle-masterpiece that people want. now my vision is to just continue to create, create something new. get excited by the process of doing something new, going places, opening doors for myself. try to make hardstyle sound new again every time i make something.
i didnt like that we as artists in this scene should constantly try to make what people think we should make. it is up to us to make what we want to make. now as a fan or a hardstyle fan you might not understand what it means but the pressure that everyone has to do exactly as the people please is really holding this genre up to move forward and diversify it in a nice way. that pressure was holding me up as a person and as an artist.
silver bullet is my move away from this expectation people have on hardstyle.
i am super happy with all the people enjoying this piece of work. and for everyone that didnt like this. sorry it is maybe not for you but i am happy you gave it a go. my new piece or album might be more your taste.
but i am glad i could put in my time, passion and love to create something new for you.
i hope you enjoyed - something new - and if not hopefully the next - something new - will be more your taste.
-- in the end we are human. lost in illusions, but forever we move on--
love
