Terms of use

“Hardtraxx” (https://hardtraxx.com) is a community forum about hard dance music. It is run privately and independently by volunteers, and the discussions on it are written by its members: we host and moderate those discussions, we do not endorse them. By using the board you agree to what is below. If you do not agree to it, please do not use the board.

We may change these terms. If a change is material we will say so on the board before it takes effect; using “Hardtraxx” after that date means you accept the new version. Everything about what we record and why is in our privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

Your account

• You need an account to post. Give us registration details that are true, and keep your email address current — it is how you get your password back.
• Your username may not impersonate someone else, may not use a name you have no right to, and may not be offensive, vulgar or obscene. We can refuse or change a username.
• Your account is yours alone. Do not use anyone else’s, and do not let anyone else use yours. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account.
• You must be at least 16 years old.
• You can stop using the board whenever you like, and ask us to delete your account. We can close an account that breaks these terms.

What you may not post

Do not post anything abusive, obscene, vulgar, libellous, hateful, threatening or sexually oriented, or anything otherwise unlawful under the laws of the Netherlands, of your own country, or international law. Beyond that, the following will get a post removed and can get an account suspended or banned:

• Blackmail, extortion or intimidation of other members
• Infringement of someone’s copyright or trademark
• Impersonating another person
• Posting someone’s personal details, or collecting other members’ data under false pretences
• Malware, phishing, or links to either
• Spam, in any form
• Advertising and promotion — see “Promoting things here” below
• Nudity and pornography
• Anything that harms minors or animals
• Anything else unlawful

The list can grow. Whether a particular post crosses the line is our call, and we make it in the interest of the board as a whole.

Music, uploads and copyright

Do not post material you do not hold the rights to. That means no complete copies of released tracks, and no links whose purpose is to distribute them. Sharing your own mixes, livesets and recordings, and linking to music on the platforms the artists themselves publish on, is what this board is for.

What other members write and upload is theirs. Do not copy it off the board and republish it as your own.

If something here infringes your copyright, tell us: write to info@hardtraxx.com or to any administrator on the The team page, saying what the material is, where on the board it is, and what right you hold. We remove infringing material once we know about it, and we close the accounts of people who keep posting it.

Promoting things here

Hardtraxx is a place for people in hard dance to talk to each other, not a channel for reaching them. Sharing what you make, as part of the community, is welcome. Using the board as advertising space is not, and that is the difference we moderate on: whether a post is you taking part in a conversation, or you sending people somewhere else.

Welcome, in the forum it belongs in: your own tracks, mixes and livesets; the parties you are playing at, promoting or going to; a release you want to talk about; a track you are looking for the ID of; your work as an artist, DJ, label or promoter, brought up in a discussion you are actually part of.

Not allowed unless you agreed it with us first:

• Posting to promote a website, app, shop, service, product, brand, channel, server or community — yours or someone else’s — however the topic is framed. Asking for feedback, testers, beta users, survey answers or “thoughts on my project” is promotion as well: what decides it is that the post exists to send people elsewhere.
• Registering in order to post one. If an account’s first posts are about its owner’s own site or project, we treat it as an advertising account and remove it along with the posts.
• Anything commercial: selling, paid services (ghost production, mixing and mastering, artwork, promo pools, ticket resale, merchandise), affiliate or referral links, and anything you are being paid or rewarded to post.
• Putting the same thing in front of members another way — by private message, in the chat, or carried in your signature, avatar, profile fields or username instead of in a post.
• Promoting a site or a tool that does what this board does: another hard dance forum or community, a release overview or tracker, a track-ID service, a party agenda for this scene. We build those things here, for our members, and we are not a launch platform for someone else’s version of them.

None of this is a blanket no — it is a no by default, and the way round it is to ask. Write to info@hardtraxx.com, or to any administrator on the The team page, before you post: say what it is, whether money is involved, and what it gives the people here. Something free and genuinely useful to the scene, from someone who is part of this board rather than passing through it, is a different thing from an advert, and we would rather judge it case by case than ban it outright. Without that agreement the topic gets removed, and if the account exists only for it, the account goes too.

Your posts stay yours — and stay here

You keep the rights to what you write. By posting it you give us permission to show it on this board and in the board’s feeds and search results, for as long as the discussion exists.

You agree that we may remove, edit, move, lock or delete any topic or post, at any time and at our discretion. A discussion is something several people took part in, so if you ask us to delete your account we unlink your posts from it rather than tear the threads apart. If one specific post of yours has to go, tell us which and why.

The IP address of every post is recorded, so that abuse, spam and ban evasion can be traced.

What we do not promise

We do our best to keep the board up and running, but it will sometimes be down for maintenance, upgrades or repairs, and we are not liable to you for that. What members post is the responsibility of whoever posted it: we do not check it in advance, we cannot vouch for its accuracy, and we cannot guarantee that anyone here is who they say they are. Use your own judgement.

Posts contain links and embeds to other sites, which we do not control and are not responsible for — including anything you buy from, agree with, or hand your details to over there. Read their terms and their privacy policies.

If you fall out with another member, or with someone you met through the board, that is between the two of you. We are under no obligation to get involved, though we will step in when the board itself is affected.

Your information is stored in a database. We take care of it (see the privacy policy), but no site can promise it will never be broken into, and we cannot be held responsible for a hacking attempt that leads to data being compromised.

The board changes

Features come and go as the board is worked on, and we may add, limit or withdraw parts of it. Where a change would take something away that you rely on, we will try to say so first.
