Dirty Workz
OK, time for that mandatory explanation. Let's see if we can clear some things up.
Approximately 7 days ago, we entered the year 2015.
The movie "Back to the Future" - a movie that is approximately 30 years old warmed all their viewers up to the future that was (shock) 2015! Hell, watching that movie made millions of kids (now adults) really want 2015 to hurry the hell up so we could all get our hoverboards.
Well, that didn't happen. And as it seems, our mindset is also somewhat stuck "in the present". The present being 5 to 10 years ago.
Although we don't have hoverboards, you'd think that creativity and diversity for a (digital age) artist would be praised by listeners who yearn for something new, something exciting - yet the very fans (well, ok not ALL of them
) artists wish to please don't give them the creative freedom to stretch their boundaries, jump off of the hype train and try something different.
As a label, we've been egging our artists on to do what feels right. There's nothing worse than having to hold yourself back creatively because a style is "stuck in the present" (which is actually the past). An artist doesn't always want to follow that same formula. Taking that step to try something new, feeling happy about it, and confident enough in wanting to release it is daunting in itself - we're here to back up those choices and allow the music to flow.
It's what Audiofreq has been doing the past year, Phuture Noize went all the way with "Hope", Wasted Penguinz are spreading their little penguin wings (who knows, maybe they can fly), Coone has been pushing boundaries as well as Hard Driver, Da Tweekaz showed the World what diversity is all about with their #Tweekay14 project and many many other artists have done the same. That, is what being an artist is all about. Allowing yourself to do something without feeling the need to hold back.
To answer one very important question - yes... Josh & Wesz will have an astounding 'new' "Josh & Wesz Styled" track coming very soon, so no need to have a panic attack about that. They just needed to have that very needed breath of fresh air.
To conclude, we're very proud of each and every release that comes out of our little warehouse - that also goes for our artists.
