The Magic Show is a hardstyle concept that started in the end of 2009 on a small radiostation called Hardshockers. After only a very short while it started to become one of the biggest acts on the station. With some darker sets than usual, Tita tried to bring some more variation in the hardstyle offer on the radio. It took only a few weeks for Tita to get motivated enough to really do something with his show. Realising that his own sets weren’t of high enough quality he thought of some things that could entertain the listener.
From that moment the Magic Show started to invite DJs for guestmixes. In february the 10th edition of the event came up. As a celebration we decided to make the broadcast 4 hours long and invited Thera, Solutio & The I’s, Freeze and Vitaz. From this celebration the concept changed into a radioshow that lasts 4 hours and contains mainly guestmixes.
Because of the effort it takes we chose to not invite new guests every week, but to work with residents. These residents have been picked by several standards. As first we really think that the sets have to be of very good quality. The most important standard is ofcourse the quality of the mixwork. Besides the mixing we also feel that we want to be slightly different then other radioshows, thatfor we also attach a lot of value to the originality of the DJ’s that play. For this reason we look carefully to the capibility of the residents to pick together tracklists and to dare to mix different then others. Then there is another important issue that we searched in our residents; we want our residents to value their carreer and thatfor act in such a way that they can not harm the Magic Show or themselves. Last point that we wanted to see in our residents is for sure not the least important. In order to perform in the show it’s important to be easy to communicate with and hang around with. We really feel like the Magic Show could grow to a big group of DJ’s that actually know all other residents and feel and act as a part of a community.
After some weeks of carefull considerations we have decided a select a small amount of residents. However to be able to offer the listeners variaty we also searched contact with some labels. In the contact with our labels we also seak several important points. The first point that we care for is ofcourse the quality of the productions. The Magic Show is supposed to be quality and we want all people involved to radiate this quality. Another important standard is that we would like the label to be representing their own style. Ofcourse for the labels counts the same standards as for the residents when it comes to behaviour, communication and loyalty.
At this very moment the Magic Show is broadcasting on Real Hardstyle Radio. We chose to move here because we feel like this radiostation is a station that gives us the freedom and support to provide the listener the best quality that we can. In cooperation with the station we are able to bring more variation to our listeners. An important part of the variation they offer is the studiosession that we can hold in their studio on regular base.
Right now we work together with 11 residents and 3 labels. The residents are to be heared once a month or two months, while the labels can be heard once every month. Besides these expanding amount of residents we also have a weekly guest in our show. In general the guest that we have in the show are the some more known performers in the harddance world.
The Magic Show is always searching for ways to improve and entertain their listeners. We can assure you that in the future you will hear a lot more of us. On the radio, but perhaps on other places too. We are always searching for new residents, ideas and partners.
