Aight, Rikkert.

Physika IG wrote:IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: After exactly 10 years of Physika, this will be my final year. This choice wasn’t easy, but I am truly convinced this is the right choice. Ofcourse I owe you an explanation.

I have always managed to combine my regular job during the week as physical therapist (that’s where ‘Physika’ comes from) and being an artist in the weekends. Spending countless hours in the studio every week to create new music which basicly took every free minute I had. It was a lot, but it worked because I loved doing it all. Since my daughter is born, not only my time management has changed, but also priorities have shifted.

For the past 2 years, I have noticed a decrease in popularity. Less streams, less engagement on social media, less bookings and so on. Whenever I check out sets of artists that are popular these days, I have to admit that I don’t feel any connection anymore with the music that’s being played. The (raw) hardstyle music I once loved so much has now evolved in a way that it’s not touching me anymore. I have always told myself to stay true to my own style and never change my music to something I don’t like just to become relevant and popular again. I started this journey at the age of 14 because I wanted to share my passion and musical creativity with the entire world, and I can proudly say I managed to so till the end.

It has been a journey of 17 years where dreams became reality. I’ve played at every major festival I once dreamed of and even much more events I couldn’t even imagine. I’ve played my music in 13 different countries, worked together with amazing artists and released over 50 tracks at Gearbox, Scantraxx, Roughtstate, and My Way, that got millions of streams.

I want to say thank you. Thank you promoters, bookings agencies, colleagues, music labels, artists that I worked with and last but not least: thanks to you. Thank you for listening to my music and being there at my sets delivering all that energy. Without you, all of this succes wouldn’t be possible. It is time to close an incredible chapter of my life with memories that will never be forgotten.
