Last weeks were all about this specific gig.. I was making new edits, did a remix, selected my favorite tracks..

I play with a "Plug&Play" system called Traktor S4. Which is like 100% flawless to me. I always double-check my cables and plugs, if everything is connected the right way etc.
I plugged into the soundsystem and saw that I had a signal on the mixer on stage. So it all looked fine to me.
When playing my first track, I already heard the sound was distorted. I thought it was my system, did a quick check, but everything looked fine to me.
But some of my collegues and also people from the audience told me it still wasn't clear.
I totally didn't know what was going on and looked for the sound-engineer, but he was nowhere to be found..
Finally someone showed up, said my signal was way too hard so something in the mixer broke down.
In my opinion this wasn't right, I always check my settings and never boost my system to much, cause I don't want to create a distorted sound.
After several attempts to reset the mixer, it just didn't work, so they told me to play with CD's.
I didn't calculate on that, but heck.. if that's the only solution, I just go for it.
Cause everything was in my system, I didn't bring any cd's, but gladly Ran-D, Adaro, Josh & Wesz offered me their cd-wallets so I could continue my set..
But again the mixer broke down..
Then I started to panic… something snapped in me.. all those weeks of preparations, all those feelings to be on this stage on this time..
It all flushed away in 1 second and my feelings took over..
This is not gonna happen.. not here.. not now!!
In other situations I can take control of these emotions, but this time it was even too much for me and I had to go backstage..
Once I was there the emotions completely took over my body and I had to let go off everything (nice there were some big trashcans which I could kick and hit).
I was done for the night.. I had to leave.. going home or whatever.. I was wrecked..

After a lot of talking and comfort, I went back on stage half an hour later.
All support and positive feedback from all people gave me strength again and when I saw the people were still there in the area, the feeling came back again.
This is way I became an artist! This is the reason I started to perform.. To entertain people with my hard and raw sounds!

Those last 20 minutes I could finally enjoy my set again, but when looking back to this all, I can still cry…
What a catastrophe to leave the DefQon1 area like this…

I want to apologies to the audience and to Q-dance. This situation was crap for everyone involved. Everyone is looking forward to a great party which you will carry in your memories forever, but right now, I just want to forget this evening as soon as possible.
I hope this will never happen to me again, neither to other artists, because right now I realize there's also another side to the life of an artist.
All those high expectations can also turn against you and knock you of your feet.. I'm the living proof of that…

Josh & Wesz, Tanguy (HardWear), Ran-D & Adaro, Charlotte, MC Renegade and most important.. the people still standing there for me..
