Hardtraxx Newbie

Hello Hardtraxx comunity. :D
I am an austrian student, currently studying here in holland (since 2 months :) ) and i also share the passion about harddance musicstyles with you.

For university i have to observe and make studies about a dutch leisure experience. Since im already into this special kind of music, which almost only exists in this country, my decision was very easy: Harddance.

I would like to ask you as a comunity a few questions, and i would be very greatfull if i got alot of replies :)
I know there is an english part in this forum, but i think hardly anybody will go there, i really want to see it from everybodys point of view.

my questions:

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
2. Why do you love it?
3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?

In general i just want to find out about Harddance and the comunity as much as i can. If you have special informations, please let me know :)

it would be very cool if i got some replies of you, this will be an important project ;)
maybe its also nice for you to read about the passion of the others.

i will keep you updated of course :D

hopefully we see eachother on a good party in the close future.

thank youuu,
naomi

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
By my brother!
4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
Uhm, my first party was in 2010, when I was 15 years, it was Free Festival, in 2011 I got my first indoor party, Masters of Hardcore, that was way better then Free Festival!
But I listen to the music for 5 years I think, and my love for hardcore only grows more!

Here you go!

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
Unlike any other genre of music, you become one with the beats. You can see it when you watch the artists themselves at a big event, when they're not playing their tracks, they're at other stages among the audience, going completely berserk. Even on stage, they usually can't behave themselves, and motivate the crowd to breal their legs even faster

2. Why do you love it?
Matter of taste, really. You can't explain love, you feel it. And that's what it's all about

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
Before I first heard this genre, I wasn't into music a lot. I liked a couple of songs, but not complete genres or anything. When i heard my first harder styles track (Outblast - Life Sentence for Mankind) at the age of 12, I was instantly sold, and it hasn't left since.

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
This site pretty much proves it, doesn't it? When you see the major crowds becoming one at festivals like DefQon.1 and Decibel, you see that brotherly feeling spreads like a forest fire

5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
Couple times per year, depends on friends really

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
100% hardcore parties, but I'll visit other stages like Dubstep or DnB if they're there as well.

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
No genre in general, just random songs every once in a while.

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
None, just enjoy yourself and don't bother others. Sadly not everyone follows that last rule.

9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
It's a part of my life in such a way, that it fills most of my silent moments, and has been part of some of the most enjoyable and euphoric moments of my life

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
8 years of listening, but the actual community...3 years or something

Hi there!
I'm only 14 but going to inform you as much as possible.

1. I don't realy know

2. Hard to explain why you love something, it's a question of taste, but I'll try: I think i love it because of the hard beats in combination with a nice melody, or the dark sound of a song, or maybe the speed (I'm talking about hardcore and all of it's subgenres, so no hardstyle)

3. I was getting bored with the music i used to listen, so I started listening hardstyle on youtube and I really liked it, I knew there was a store in the city where they sell hardstyle Cd's so I went there and bought a CD, and guess what, I fell in love with hardstyle. But they selled hardcore there too, so once, when there was a sale I bought a hardcore Cd and I really liked that also. Now I don't really listen to hardstyle anymore.

4. I think there is. But I think that feeling is bigger in hardcore then in hardstyle, at least it was (not 100% sure about this)

5. Not much since I'm only 14, last week I went to a party but that was my first.

6. I don't go to other party's but if i would it would probably be dubstep or breakcore.

7. Nothing specific, just every subgenre of hardcore.

8. None that I'm aware of.

9. A lot. I've always got music with me. I wear hardcore-related clothes. It just means really much to me.

10. 2-3 years now.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
The fact that it's hard music, within the dance genre, so it's both hard and it has a steady rythm with pumping kicks.
The vibe at parties is better then when going out on a regular clubnicht, it's like we're all friends, I think because we all love the same thing, the music.

2. Why do you love it?
Because of the reversed basses, crazy sounds, melodies, tempo, the energy and "hardnes" (couldn't think of another word in English)

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
I found out about Hardstyle while I was searching for Jumpstyle (which I heared some classmates talk about)

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
On the internet there is, on parties there is, in real life there isn't

12 times a year on average

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
I don't go to electronic music parties with other music than Hardstyle or Hardcore

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
none

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
respect each other, and also: don't fart on the dancefloor :P

The music I love to listen. The thing I spend hours on every day (listening, DJ'ing, producing, checking out new tracks, checking newsfacts online, discussing about it on the internet)

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
I've been listening to Harddance for 5 years, but I joined online communities and attended my first party 3,5 years ago.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
It's way more energetic than other genres
2. Why do you love it?
Because of the energy in the tracks, those banging kicks, combined with an epic melody can make you go nuts so easily. note that a melody doesn't neccessarily need to be uplifting and euphoric.
3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
Well, back in 2006 or so, there was this Jumpstyle hype, which I found too soft, ofcourse I had heard of Hardcore but it didn't really interest me, though there were some exceptions. Then I found a Hardstyle track, while just searching for some Jump/Hardcore on Youtube. I immediately fell in love with it, and started looking for more Hardstyle. The result is that I have been listening Hardstyle for the past 4-5 years.
4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
Yeh, on internet & parties
5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
Just once or twice in a year. Well I'm only 17, so next year it'll be a lot more.
6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
I normally don't go to electronic music parties that don't include Hardstyle, but I've been to a prog. House party last summer, which was pretty cool, though there are too much 'wannabe gangsters'
7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
Trance, Some kinds of house (especially Avicii), oldskool rap.(tracks like California Love etc.)
8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
Not as far as I know.
9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
(see Q 1 & 2)
10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
About 4 or 5 years.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
Hardstyle - I think reverse bass is the keyword for me. It made Hardstyle sound very energetic. Even though it was between 138-150 bpm, it sounded like it was going twice that speed. I dislike hardcore, mainly because of the high bpms (and too much distortion), but somehow in hardstyle, a reverse bass is the perfect match between energy and speed.
Hardtrance - It's the diversity that I dig in this genre. Even though the early hardstyle sound is the best sound I can think of, it is all very limited and similar. While Hardtrance, even though it has a smaller scene, is a much bigger genre musicwise. The diversity causes that I don't like all quality tracks being made, but the amount of creativity the artists puts into it, make the tracks much more artlike. When I make a personal top500 or something, I think the top10 will mainly exist out of hardtrance tracks, because when I do like a hardtrance track, it often has that much extra at every level compared to the hardstyle tracks.

2. Why do you love it?
Like I said above, the energy hardstyle has, without the urge of higher speeds and more distortion. Hardstyle showed that hard doesn't necessarily need extreme amounts of distortions, with their clean deep hard kicks that set your teeth on edge. It's the perfect compromise between hardness and speed. Another thing I really like in hardstyle is making something really awesome out of weird sounds. Combining these sounds, make them sound good together is something that kept hardstyle interesting for me. Nowadays the genre is too much about melodies, that it is losing my interest. At the moment I'm going back to the origin of hardstyle to hear (again) what the sound was like and which other music has evolved from that point, without having lost that basis. That mostly leads me to the hardtrance genre, of which I described above what I like about it.

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
In the beginning I didn't care about music at all. It all sounded very dull, until I heard a commercial on TV about the Hardheadz album. The sound was so different compared to the music I knew back then. It gave me instant goosebumps. Not much later I bought my first hardstyle compilation cd. It was around new years eve, and I liked the music so much, that I barely touched the fireworks I bought. I think I was 12 years old back then. Back then, hardtrance and hardstyle were not that different and came often side by side on hardstyle CD's and parties. So I grew up with a part of the hardtrance genre as well.

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
It really depends. All kinds of music bind people, so our genres are not any different. I have a very uncommon taste, which makes it feel like I'm less part of one big community, but more like I'm sharing my passion with a smaller group of individuals, who have a somewhat similar taste. Even though I respect people with a different taste within the genre(s), I feel no connection to them.

5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
I only visit the summer festivals, because of medical reasons. And I think I visit about 5 of them every year. It really depends on the lineups and friends willing to come along with me.

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
I never visited any other parties than hardstyle/hardtrance.

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
Certain industrial hardcore (without too much distortion and below 160 bpm)
Ambient, as listening music. Listening to how such tracks are produced is really interesting.
Certain DnB, as distraction of the 4x4 basslines in hardstyle/hardtrance

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
I don't know if it is some kind of rule. But it is very common to forget about the differences people have and enjoy the music together. It doesn't matter if you're an Ajax or Feyenoord supporter, whether you are black or white, whether you are gay or straight, everyone is equal in this music and enjoys it together.

9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
It's a big part of my life. I spend a lot of time listening to it, I check out the newest releases and latest news multiple times a day, I love to discuss about it and sometimes I try to create something myself.

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
I started listening back in 2002, explored the genre in the years 2003-2005 and then became actively part of the online communities of which this site is the latest.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
When I listen to hardstyle I really become one with the music. Can't hold my feet/ hands/ mouth ( :P ) still when listening to it. Hardstyle can help me become calm when I'm angry, it makes me happy when I feel sad, when I'm tired I listen to hardstyle, it makes me active again.
2. Why do you love it?
Like others said, you can't explain love, you just feel it.
3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
My cousin showed me a video of Deepack- The Prophecy. Then I found some other songs, and since then I really didn't stop listening to hardstyle.
4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
Always a very friendly atmosphere at parties, you can talk to pretty much everyone. Almost everyone is there for the same thing, that creates an awesome vibe.
5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
About 10/15 times a year.
6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
I've been to a dubstep party, and a couple of years ago I have been to some festivals with my mom, dad and sister. But that was a while ago.
7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
I like a couple of songs of every genre. For example, I like a couple of house tracks but also some rock/ pop/ (hard)trance/ d&b/ dubstep tracks.
8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
Not that I know of.
9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
It's a big part of my life, I listen to Hardstyle about 5 hours a day, so I think I can say that it is really apart of my life.
10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
In 2003 or 2004 I started listening, but then I wasn't listening to it that much. Since 2008 I started listening for 1/2 hours a day, and now it is even more.

* EDIT:
Oeps, verkeerde teksten dikgedrukt. Nu geen zin meer om het aan te passen :P

Hardtraxx Addict

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
It's sound is constantly evolving. Sometimes artists can make these "revolutionary tunes" and it never stops, that is something that gives me thrills when I hear a new tune Live.
Also, artists get inspiriration from any kind of genre, what I think is one of it's greatest strenghts to keep enjoying it as long as you might live (hopefully :P )
People get extatic from it (like me xd ) and we can also get out of "the lazy day off" :P

AND because I love low frequency bass in kicks/reversed bass :bomb:

2. Why do you love it?
Because I like the 'odd' stuff :P
And because it's fans are kind of 'guest friendly' in terms of new Hardstyle atists. (maybe Hardcore/Hardtrance as well ?)
A completely new guy/girl that makes a new tune made with passion is always appreciated by someone.

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
I came to it from a bypass xd
When I was younger (6 years ago), some of my friends listened to jump. When I heard that I said: "Damn that sounds nice" ^^
So I started to listen to it. But soon I would find a liveset of Hardstyle, but it was catogorized in the wrong genre.
When I listened to that I said: "WTFZOMG !!! This sounds amazing !!!". Then I heard the difference between jump & this "other" kind of jump.
Not long after that I managed to find more info and I realized this was called Hardstyle.
I guess that explains it in short ;)

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
Depends. In Hardstyle there is. In Hardcore as well (I guess...). In Hardtrance also convincing.
But between these themselves it's a bit less, but sometimes there is a tie with them.
But in my eyes we should all respect them as a "far family" member.

5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
Because of work, it's a bit harder now, but this year i'm still going to Thrillogy & Loudness. But I guess about 1 at least every three months.

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
If in a club it's mostly Trance/Hardtrance, sometimes the f*cked up club music. The Trance is nice, but when a DJ throws in a tune people heard for over 1000 times and every time you come there, it's played again (mostly no Trance tune at all), I think he's downgraded his set in value.
But there's almost never a DJ that throws in a Hardstyle track (not even Early) and that's a shame. Only in one club I go to sometimes they play about 2 Hardstyle tracks over the whole night.
It's kinda boring in my neighbourhood >.<

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
Not much, only Hardrock/Indie, Eurodance (because it's so funny and happy ^^ ), and Soundtracks (from games & movies).

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
Hahahahaaah !! there are no rituals as far as I know... xd
Rules are difficult. I don't really know about what article you could be talking.
Behaviours are kinda obvious. The goal is you respect every single person you see on one of the parties, even if he/she is not a true fanatic or somebody new to the music. It happens alot that they are becoming a fan ^^

9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
Freedom, Expression & Love.
Everyone who listens is free of mind to say/do things about it whatever he/she likes.
Expression can be seen when people start dancing on it, even artists go completely nuts sometimes :D
Love because everytime I come home, drive my car, or just go running, I want the music to be with me all along (L)
But also whenever new tracks are made, I MUST find out what they are called and who made it, I want to become a person who can say from a random track: This track is called ...... and made by ....... (Feat./Vs. ......) and was released on ........ (and maybe the catalog number of the release as well :P)

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
From the time jump was kinda "hyped" (that would be 2006). So I guess for about 5 years now.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
You feel very much alive. Unlike the softer styles in dance, you don't socialize that much on parties,
you don't dream away in space & time. But still, you & your friends had the best time together.
Sometimes you share a moment with your friends, or just random party people,
when you look at each other (while going completely insane) and you share a moment of joy.
I think that one of the most important aspects of the Harder styles is that you go fucking wild.
Physically the parties claim a huge toll on your body; which adds to the experience. It's such a rush.

2. Why do you love it?
Hard to say but a track of Showtek ''FTS'' says a lot, you always have to be responsible in life.
On parties as well as behind my computer I go crazy when listening to it.
It really unleashes the beast inside me.

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
I came across the harder styles when I was around the age of 11.
Just found some Dutch hardcore on the net. From their I went to a CD-store
and started exploring.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
For me, it's the energy! Hardstyle tracks come packed with a lot of energetic vibe, wich gets attenuated by the use of distorted kicks.. When i hear i good track it can literally make my day! Besides that, there's a real positive vibe at most parties, unlike other genres. When i go to hardstyle parties i always meet new people, have a chat with them etc. Unlike the public opinion, the harddance scene is one of the friendliest there is, there's a reall brotherly feeling to it!

2. Why do you love it?
Like i said before, it gives me a lot of energy, and i can go completely crazy when i hear a hardstyle track that i like!

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
When i was very young, around the age of 8/9 a friend of mine had a Thunderdome CD.. That's where it probably all started. A few years later my older sister started listening Hardstyle, and i was immediately sold! I started borrowing her CD's without giving them back because i loved it to much :P

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
Yes, very much so! Especially at smaller parties, or less 'high profile' parties like Hardbass. You always meet new people, have a chat with them etc...Everyone attending Harddance parties is there to go completely crazy, not to be some 'look at me' douchebag giving other people trouble. I think that's why Harddance parties are the best there is!

5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
I usually attend 3/4 big parties a year, parties like Defqon, Qlimax, Hardbass etc. The rest of the year i attend smaller local parties, depending on the lineup, and who's coming with me..

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
Usually i don't attend 'genre dedicated' parties if there's no harddance. However, when i just go out to a bar or something, it's usually a mix of House/Pop.

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
I can appreciate some hardrock every now and then, and some house tracks.. However, it's not the kind of music i normally listen on my iPhone or something... It's completely packed with harddance ;)

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
Go crazy, and respect everyone else! Of course there a some things that are not done, like standing still at parties.. Biggest irritation for the community ever i think!

9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
It's energy, and basically it's my life! I listen to it every day, i'm a beginning DJ and producer, so Hardstyle is a big part of my life!!

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
Since 2001/2002, So about 9/10 years now.. Pretty long considering i'm 21 years old :P

This is the only kind of music i get goosebumbs from. Most of the tracks have so many energy that it really touches me and makes me crazy like hell :P

2. Why do you love it?
Actually the same answer. It has so many energy in it, and i just like most of the sounds of harddance (nog only hardstyle)

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
About 3-4 years ago. A friend told me about Jeckyll & Hide (older jumpstyle). Back then it was like amazing to me, so I searched similar music on youtube. The result was Headhunterz, Coone and D-Block & S-Te-Fan. I couldn't get enough of it, so I went to my first big party (summerfestival 2009). My love for the music became bigger, and now I'm kind of addicted to it.

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
I think there is that feeling for example between users of the hardtraxx site, but nog very far beyond that.

5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
Some rock songs from the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Iron Maiden, Coldplay,... Also regular dance music.

Citaat:
1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
A deep and hard bassline, often combined with the best melodies, is something unique. There ain't no other music genre that makes me go as wild as hardcore does at parties.
2. Why do you love it?
The feeling the music gives me, is undescribable. I'm glad you use the word 'love' in this question, because the feeling I get really feels like love.
3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
Watching television in 2004, at the age of 10. A dutch music tv-channel called The Box very often played Unleash The Beast (by Outblast and Korsakoff) that summer. I immediately fell in love with the track, after my nephew told me what sort of music it was, I began my search for more tracks finding more and more tracks by (among others) Outblast, Korsakoff, Angerfist, etcetera.
4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
Definately, especially when you're at a certain harddance party finding other lovers (basically everyone exept for the so-called 'dagjesmensen'). It doesn't matter where you come from, skin colour doesn't matter, as long as you're truly in love with the music, it's good to me (and most others).
5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
If I would have the chance to, I would do 2 parties each weekend. Unfortunately parties are pretty expensive wich forces me to do approx. 10 parties in a year at max.
6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
I actually went to a dubstep party two weeks ago, which was the only non-harddance party ever in my life yet.
7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
Besides Hardcore (and it's subgernes, especially Industrial and Crossbreed Hardcore) and Hardstyle, I'm starting to discover genres such as Dubstep, Drum'n'Bass and sometimes Reggae (Bob Marley 99% of the time, really depending on the time of the year (preferably summer of course)).
8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
Not really, besides the particular dance (hakken or stampen), everybody does his own thing.
9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
Everything. I can't imagine one day in my life without Hardcore or Hardstyle; it makes me feel good, and when I feel down or when I have troubles or something, I can 'escape the normal' world and completely lose myself into the music.
10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
Since the summer of 2004, meaning a little more than 7 years at the moment.. Damn! That's 7/17 part of my whole life ;P

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
It's harder than most of the styles, it's party's differ from others because it's about music, not the artist.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
The people you meet at party's are always friendly, for example if you spill you drink on someone in an exident most people don't even care just saying I'm sorry is enough.
The music is full of energy, some Dj's go all out while preforming.

That was around the time Jumpstyle was populair in Holland, after listening to Jump for a while me and some friends stated getting borred with this music and where looking for something new, faster, harder.
One of my friends had a brother who was already in to Hardstyle and above 18 so we came in contact with Hardstyle because of him.

Later on while I was looking for some new tracks I found some Angerfist tracks and liked that type of music so that is how I started listening to Hardcore.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
The feeling you get when the bass kicks in, its a feeling thats really hard to describe and its unlike anything.
I do like other music genre's but it doesnt provide the kick hardcore/style gives you.

2. Why do you love it?
The energy thats in the music and the party's, it just blows you away sometimes.
The quick tempo of the bass and energetic sounds fit perfectly, but mainly its the bass.
Just the bassline can get me crazy, and thats what i love about is.
It can be simple and complex at the same time.

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
I was born in 1992 when the harddance scene was growing, i grew up with happy hardcore because my older brother was a big fan of this kind of music.
I live in Ursem its a small town with alot of young people (ages 16-25) and everyone has the same passion of this music.
So everyone who comes in contact with us will hear hardcore/style, and you just learn to love it.

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
Yes, definitly yes. Everyone who shares the same passion of this music can get along,
Espescialy at party's, almost no hostility and everyone is smiling. Its something you dont see often in this world ;)

5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
Once a every month, i almost always use Xtc for the extra feeling of joy and the almost unlimited energy it brings.
You certainly dont need to use it to have fun, its just an extra for me.

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
I actually dont go to other partys then hardcore/style, but recently started loving dubstep so im going to party soon.
If i have to give a percentage it would be (70% Hardcore), (29% Hardstyle) and (1% Dubstep)

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?

9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!

The BPM is just right. Unlike any other music for me it's something that keeps you going, at any times.

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
As the parties I want and can easily visit are quite expensive, I choose hardstyle parties as the only ones.

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
I don't like one particular genre. There are even hardstyle tracks I dislike. But to get a little view on the music that I like I would say: Hardstyle, Hardcore, Techno, Trance, Rock, Dubstep, Drum&Bass, Dubstyle and Raggae.

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
Just do whatever you want to do.

9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
I listen to the harderstyles since I was 13 or so. Back then I didn't really knew the difference between hardstyle and hardcore, I got to know artists I like now a days and developed more and more love to this music. But I started visiting the real parties at age 18 so almost 3 years ago.

1. What is the very unique thing about Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance in terms of the experience?
Beats between 140 and 160 bpm, combined with screeches, melodies and rough sounds make hardstyle unique to me.

2. Why do you love it?
I don't really know why. I fell in love with the reversed basses the first time I listened to hardstyle. They were so energetic and uplifting, I think that really catched my attention. I also like the rough and darkside of the hardstyle, really gives me shivers sometimes.

3. How did you come to Hardstyle/Hardcore/Hardtrance?
My mom used to bring some copied cd/albums which she got from a collegue (about 8 or 9 years ago). There were many hardstyle (early hardstyle now) and hardcore albums among them. Those were the first times I came in contact with the music, and my love for the harderstyles never faded.

4. Is there a real comunity feeling with other Harddancelovers?
Depends. I don not have any affection with people who are not really into the scene but listen hardstyle in some ocassions and only go to the bigger parties. But I really feel part of a community when I am among people who share the same love and passions for the music as I do. But I think in general the community feeling is high, the atmosphere at most parties is great and almost everybody is nice and friendly to another.

5. How often do you go to Harddance partys a year/month/week (depends on you)?
Parties from the famous organisers like B2S, Q-dance, etc some 5 times a year I think. I visit smaller parties a lot more often because they are cheaper and have more diverse line ups, on average once a month

6. If you go to other electronic music partys, what kind of music? and what is the percentage like? for example (50% hardstyle, 50%dubstep,minmal,techhouse)
95% is hardstyle at the moment. The other 5% is devided among the other styles. But my taste is changing a bit, I start to dislike the happy, melody, accesable side of hardstyle more and more.

7. What other kinds of music do you like in general?
Hardstyle (early and raw), underground hip hop, blues, ambient, neo-classical(not really in general, but some parts), rock, indie, hardcore, trance, industrial

8. Are there special rituals, rules, behaviours within the comunity?
I think there are none. Everybody does his own thing.

9. What is Hardcore/Hardstyle/Hardtrance for you? describe!
It is a big part of my life, not only hardstyle but music in general. But hardstyle is my pone of my greatest passions, many hours a day listening and since a few months also producing.

10. How long are you a part of the Harddance comunity?
I have ben part of this community just over two years. I have been listening to harderstyles for 9 years.

Good luck with your assignment! It would like to see the final results of your work :).
