Review by Thyron [Fusion Records]
"When I heard about the brand new Gearbox album 'Mechanical Warfare' I couldn't wait to hear the first album tracks!
I know there are some very promising talents on this upcoming Scottish label - I've already supported tracks from Luminite and Artifact and I'm even working on a collab with the talented guys from Shellshock!
Luckily I was one of the first to get the full album mix of CD2, containing 16 (raw) hardstyle tracks from upcoming talents, and got asked to review this brand new album.
The continuous album mix kicks off with one of the elements which makes it so refreshing and unique; a cool female voice giving a short introduction about the 'war' which is about to start.
Followed up by an amazing, atmospheric opening track by Shellshock, 'Auditory Exploration', this must be one of the best album introductions I've heard so far!
This thematic opening combined with creative and refreshing transitions between all tracks, including instructions for the next 'mission' of the war in each transition, contribute a lot to the 'story' behind the album.
It's just brilliant how the Shellshock track actually has the perfect feeling for the theme song of a war which is about to start and how the closing tracks are representing the 'final fight'. Really impressive!
Another great point of this album is the diversity. During this album you'll hear lots of different styles which keeps it interesting to listen to.
I've heard lots of potential in many tracks on the album and some of them have definitely blown me away!
Also I noticed there is quite some difference between the tracks when it comes to quality (production wise).
This means the upcoming artists on the label can still learn a lot from each other and new talent can grow even harder, which promises a lot for the future!
I've picked out my three favorite tracks of the album and reviewed them separately:
1. Shellshock - Auditory Exploration:
As I've mentioned before, for me this track has just the perfect atmosphere as an opening track for the album.
The big choirs are giving me goosebumps and the melody has a unique feeling. I can just perfectly feel the war breaking loose in this track and that makes it perfect to open the story of this album.
The glitches in the orchestral break, combination of the phat lead and huge choirs, and the powerful 'punchy' kick have given this track it's 'final touch' and I'm really impressed by the result.
2. Malice - Incoming
Wow! I haven't heard of these guys before, but the way this midintro kicks in has just blowed me off my chair!
These machine sounds and pounding kicks give me this epic war feeling yet again. One of the very few tracks from upcoming artists which has made me hit the replay button over and over again.
I hope the guys from Malice can keep up this great work in their next tracks!
3. Luminite - Demons
Maybe this isn't the hardest track of the album, but it definitely has a great atmosphere for a closing track.
The vibe in this track perfectly describes the final fight of the big war which has been going on, and just when you think it's over after a heavy anticlimax with screeches as sharp as blades, it speeds up and finishes with a massive explosion of energy and atmosphere.
Perfect way to close down the album in style!
All in all Gearbox really outdid themselves with this brand new album. The storytelling is worked out perfectly and there is lots of potential in many album tracks.
If you like diverse (raw) hardstyle and want to meet the sound of the next generation, then don't hesitate and pre-order your own hardcopy version!"

If you can't pay by any type of card, we also take payments via PayPal. If you just send a message through the website with all the details that the order form asks for. I'll then reply with the PayPal address to send the payment to.
Alternatively, you can buy the album at the Royal Madness presents Gearbox Digital event in Hilversum on the 11th of October.

I will try to pay it through paypall than.
unfortunately i have other plans at the 11th of October.
I will be visiting XXLRAW in the matrix. And also looking forward to see Jason Payne.
And hopefully he is bringing his gearbox tracks with him.

Ok mate nice one, I look forward to your email.wrote:I will try to pay it through paypall than.

I am being quite genuine when I say that we are running out of stock on this album though. We haven't even had the delivery of CD's and pretty much every CD is accounted for. It's not just a sales tactic when I say that.
