Having to move the pitchfader, ONLY with classics. Where most tracks had their individual bpm. Not everything set to 150 bpm.. when intro’s were divers and made mixing interesting and offered dj’s to stand out and made sets divers and unique even though of course even back then tracks were played double on party nights.
Bpm counters, recordbox and other digital help makes it easier, can save time. But makes time to do epic stuff with intro’s, samples, loopsets and vocal work. Or just helps you pick up the pace and offer more tracks to your audience.
Last saturday I played 44 tracks in 1 hour and 40 minutes (give or take a few). In the vinyl days when I was learning the trade I did 12 in 60 minutes. Embrace the new era and digital help, but use it to stand out. Challenge yourself to do epic shit with the music you love!
Or you can use sync when you don’t even have to pitch your music and spend all your time with a mic in your hand on the Dj booth. To each his (or hers own)
Ik vond het een leuk verhaaltje voor bij je set
