Patates frites is Belgisch Frans. België (Vlamen) gebruiken grotendeels friet(en), de zuidelijke provincies (ofwel netnietbelgiëland/allesonderderivierenland) friet en de rest van Nederland grotendeels patat. Net zo verschillend als vertrekken een aanrijden.
