Hi guys!
Thank you for taking the time to do this Q&A! Great to see your involvement on Hardtraxx, even after several years!
1. What seperates 'Clockartz' from other artists?
2. You guys play a lot of older tracks in your sets. Most artists don't do that (anymore). Why do guys keep playing those older tracks and what is your reasoning for why most artists don't? Not to push your answer in any direction but some artists claim that older tracks don't fit in anymore (quality wise) between the recent/newer tracks.
3. Favorite (all-time) Hardstyle producer and why?
4. Favorite (all-time) Hardstyle DJ and why?
5. What is your opinion on longer set lengths vs shorter and back 2 back sets? For example 90 or 120 minutes solo vs 60 minutes solo or 60 minutes back 2 back.
6. As a duo, do you guys put equal amounts of time and energy into stuff regarding Clockartz? Or do you guys work by your strenghts and fill each others shortcomings?
7. We dutchies obviously know pizza and pasta but are there any Italian delicacies which we don't know in Holland but we certainly should?
Thank you all guys for so many questions!
1. What seperates 'Clockartz' from other artists? We always produced our own style of music and we always went and go our own way, no matter what others think about it.
We love to bring a story in our sets and how can there be missed a good old classic song. Of course qualitywise there can be some differences between old and new but we anyway try to put those songs in the right place in the set where we think they fit good.
3. Favorite (all-time) Hardstyle producer and why?Ran-D, cause he is such a great producer, he is a perfectionist and we already learnt a lot from him. And by the way he is a really cool dude.
4. Favorite (all-time) Hardstyle DJ and why?B-Front, because he puts always 100% in his performance and he plays such atmospherical sets.
5. What is your opinion on longer set lengths vs shorter and back 2 back sets? For example 90 or 120 minutes solo vs 60 minutes solo or 60 minutes back 2 back.Longer sets need to be prepared well. There must be even more a story than in the shorter sets and while doing that you need to use longer songs with longer breaks. Nowadays its hard to play such long sets because its mostly all about putting songs with short breaks, fast drop, and dropping energetical bombs at the dancefloor. It’s a bit a pitty. We prefer playing 60 minutes sets and like we said before we always try to put a story in it, so some parts of the set can be more atmospherical and slower but of course we also like to kick some ass with some bomb tracks too and in 60 minutes sets that’s both possible. B2b sets are always fun, we love them. Each artist is different and its interesting combine styles.
6. As a duo, do you guys put equal amounts of time and energy into stuff regarding Clockartz? Or do you guys work by your strenghts and fill each others shortcomings? We try to put as much time into Clockartz as possible. Some days Seba is more in the studio and some days Konnie. Of course each one has his strengths. Seba for example is good at starting ideas and Konnie likes to continue working on them, tweak stuff, try different approaches. Seba is good at making kicks and Konnie is good at working on vocals. Both are good at working on mixdown and eqing. I think we are two pieces of a puzzle which together becomes one.
7. We dutchies obviously know pizza and pasta but are there any Italian delicacies which we don't know in Holland but we certainly should?Fiorentina or Ossobuco!
